It is graduation season. The graduation invitations have already gone out. (I hope they have at least!) The kids are worrying about final exams or restlessly finishing out the last few days of high school. In honor of graduation, I give you the best advice song ever. It may sound really cheesy but take it to heart kids! Stay young!
Tracking receipts
Now that I'm teaching Zumba, I have to keep track of my related receipts for tax purposes. I wonder if I should use Royal Imaging document scanning and keep them in a virtual file instead of putting them in a folder or something. It would definitely be easier than trying to remember where I put the physical receipts. I'll have to look into the costs for it. It just might be doable.
It's not summer yet!
Despite not officially being summer yet, we are at the beginning of our second heat wave of the year. It is expected to be so hot that some of the area schools are dismissing students early. My daughter's school isn't currently on the list but today is their last full day of school anyway. They only have three half days left after today. While I do love the summer, I like it when it gradually gets warmer. It sucks when it goes from 60 to 90 overnight. (Note to self: Buy cheap sunglasses. The sun glare hurts during the drive to/from work.) If we're lucky, this will be a short heat wave. I'd like it to be over by next weekend. That is the date of our dance recital. Recital sucks when it's a million degrees out. It can get hot again after recital.
School is almost over
Yesterday was Field Day at my daughter's school. She did OK. Our family isn't really the 'jock' type though. One of the other classes seemed to have all the jocks so they pretty much won everything. (There's three classes for each grade.) My daughter had fun and, really, that is all that matters. As an aside, I'd like to mention that sometimes it annoys me that TV stations have moved from analog tv to digital. We have a TV at work but we don't have cable or satellite or anything like that. We used to just use the analog signal. Then we had to get a digital converter box. Now some of the channels randomly pop in and out. Sometimes we'll get a channel, sometimes we won't. It's annoying.
Full time Zumba dream
I am currently stuck between a rock and a hard place. I would really love to teach Zumba full time. It is so much fun that it doesn't even seem like work. Unfortunately, I can't do that until I can make more money from my classes. I can't teach more classes because I have to keep working full time. I have been looking for a new full time job that will, hopefully, allow me to teach more often but there's a lot of management jobs listed, which isn't what I want. I'm going to keep working hard though. One day I will prevail.
So busy!
I'm sorry that I have been so busy the past few weeks. I haven't even had time to do anything worthy of blogging about. My husband picked up L.A. Noire the other day but he hasn't had a chance to play it. That is the plan for this Memorial Day weekend. On top of that, I am about halfway through Liar's Game. I'm not sure I'll have it finished by next week though. I'll definitely be able to give you some opinions on the video game. It's almost summer! Yay!
Anniversary ideas needed
This year will be my 10th wedding anniversary. Wow. I need some ideas for anniversary gifts. Luckily, I have until October to come up with something good. The traditional gift is tin or aluminum but the modern gift is diamond jewelry. I'm not really into jewelry and the tin/aluminum thing sounds lame. Though...my husband is a big gamer. Maybe I can find him a metal figure of a video game character. Then again, maybe I'll just forget the 'types' of gifts I'm supposed to get him and just go with a nice dinner.
Parental presents
Next weekend is Mother's Day. My sister and I are taking my mom out for a spa day. It's usually Father's Day that gives me problems. I think I'm going to look at some Fathers Day baskets for my dad this year. It's difficult to find something he really likes that he could use. I hope something good (and not too expensive) turns up.
Yay weekend!
Yay! It's the weekend! And, for once, it's supposed to be pretty nice. It's been raining for the past few weekends. According to the (usually unreliable) weatherman, it's not going to be too hot and no rain! I have some Zumba-related things to do but at least some of that will be outside. I'll be in the sun, away from small business phone systems and the slew of customers that just hit 0 instead of selecting one of the options on our phone tree. I'm so glad it's the weekend.
No more daytime tv!
I really do hate daytime television. There is rarely anything good on and they bombard you with a variety of commercials from different companies selling the same things. Three or four different schools that will license you to be a medical assistant or auto mechanic or massage therapist. Multiple companies claiming they have the cheap car insurance quote around. Not to mention all the lawyers trying to get you to sue for accidents or medical problems. I usually only turn the tv on in the afternoon to just have some noise while I'm doing something else. Man, is it annoying noise.
