Time to Clean Up!

My home computer is a mess. I have this bad habit of keeping all of my files on my desktop so I can easily access them. Of course, it ends up making everything difficult to find. So I have to do a Windows cleanup. For me, that just means organizing all of my files a bit better. I'm already all defragged and all of that jazz. I just need to be tidier.

Movie review: Wreck-It Ralph

My family has been looking forward to Wreck-It Ralph for a very long time. We wanted to see it so much that all three of us went to the late show on Saturday night. (Even my 10-year old daughter gets annoyed when kids talk through films.)

Wreck-It Ralph is a different type of video game movie. The main character, Ralph, is the villain in his video game. He destroys buildings a la Rampage while Fix-It Felix Jr, the hero, fixes the building and saves all the apartment dwellers. As such, the NPCs of the game love Felix and hate Ralph. But Ralph is unhappy with this situation. After all, he's a pretty nice guy. (In the game, he only destroys the building because the builders moved the stump where he lived to the local dump in order to build the apartment. This mad Ralph angry so he went all loco on them. To be honest, I don't blame him.) So he leaves his game in order to get a hero medal, which he believes will make the NPCs like him.

We all enjoyed the movie immensely. I thought it was awesome that each character moved the way they would in their video game. The NPCs of Fix-It Felix all do this little hop-walk when they move. These games are not only their jobs but their lives. This is how they live. I also really liked all of the cameos. My husband and I spent a bit of time trying to pick out everyone. I don't want to give away too much of the plot because everyone should go see this. Seriously. Stop reading and go.

As a bonus, I'll give you the theme song for one of the other games in the movie: Sugar Rush

Cravings

I quit smoking cigarettes a long time ago. It's been about 13 years or so. That doesn't mean I don't get cravings once in awhile though. I tried e-cigs. They are pretty awful. My husband and I tried pipe smoking at one point but I didn't like it very much. I thought about buying some cigars on sale to try but I don't really like cigar smoke. I can't imagine liking actually smoking one. Instead, I deal with my cravings the way any good woman would - Chocolate. I just have to make sure I exercise enough so I don't gain a million pounds.

Dragons!

As I've said before, my family enjoys the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire. We've actually gone three times this year. It's a record! One of our favorite vendors at the faire is Imaginarium Galleries. They sell dragon puppets called drabbits. (A drabbit is a cross between a dragon and a rabbit.) The smallest drabbit costs about $20. From there, you can find a variety of sizes and prices up to a hand-made staff with a drabbit perched atop for about $7,000. My husband and daughter both bought mid-sized drabbits during our second trip to the faire. My daughter named her drabbit Pinkie Pie.

My husband named his Saurum.

During this past trip, the two of them talked me into buying my own drabbit. I have not named him yet.

Each of these dragons moves their heads up/down and left/right. The more expensive models have an additional cable that allows their wings to move as well. And the best part? Throughout the day, the staff at the store hands out raffle tickets. At the end of the day, they give away a variety of drabbits. (By the way, they aren't all dragons. There are also griffins and owls and many other species.) Even if you can't afford to buy one yourself, please make sure to stop by the shop and take a look at the puppets. Not only are they amazing, but they will also make you smile like a kid again.

Is it summer yet?

The winter is a terrible time of year. I don't believe people that say they love winter. How could you possibly love a season where (almost) everything green is dead? I much prefer the summer. I would love to get a pool, not so I can go swimming but so I can lay next to the pool and soak up the sun. (Yes, the experience is completely different when you don't have a pool.) I know my husband would love a intellichlor system. He keeps talking about how he'd like to have a salt water pool because it's better than chemicals. I believe this is a similar system. Ah, summer.

So lame

Yeah, I'm super lame. I keep promising more content then life keeps getting away from me. I'm still trying to get a hold of this new work schedule. It's difficult for me to find time to watch dramas nowadays and lately I have been spending way too much time watching The Ellen Show on YouTube. That stuff is way too addicting. I apologize for my lameness. I will try my best to figure out a way to fit everything into my schedule.

We are NERDS!

Once again, my family went to the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire. This time we took my mother and my sister with us. My mother enjoys the shops, which annoys my daughter. While my mother was shopping, I managed to catch a bit of a Scottish drum group. I couldn't actually see much of the show but I could hear the drumming and it was pretty awesome. At first, I thought they were using regular Yamaha Drums but when I got a bit closer, I could see that the drums were HUGE. It made me wish I had actually made time to go see the show. Perhaps they will come back around next season.

Updating the Wardrobe

I really need to buy some new T-shirts. As I was looking through my closet this morning, I noticed that almost all of my wearable (meaning there are no holes in it) shirts are anime-based. While I like anime, I'm not quite the anime geek I once was. I'm not really creative enough to make my own custom made t-shirts so I'm asking you guys for advice. Where you do buy cool yet sorta geeky t-shirts?

Ah yes, the fall

Ah, fall is indeed coming. These are the days where it is in the mid-70s during the day and the low 50s at night. Where my entire body revolts against the quickly changing temperatures. Where you are never quite sure what clothes you should wear - long sleeves and pants to deal with the chilly mornings or short sleeves to deal with the warm afternoon. That is pretty much a nice way to say that I managed to get sick. My head is all stuffy and it's hard to think straight. I would really like to crawl back into bed but that just isn't possible today. Hopefully I'll be better by the weekend. Being sick over the weekend just sucks.

Fall is coming

The first day of fall is this coming Saturday. It's already kinda cold in the morning when I go to work but it's still nice and warm by the time lunch comes around. I am not a fan of the colder months. I wish that it could stay just like this - warm enough to enjoy the afternoon but not so hot that my husband complains. (Though I, personally, prefer the hot months.) Instead, it'll be freezing soon. And, from what I hear, this winter will be pretty awful. Maybe I should buy a set of Crescent Moon Gold 12 Snowshoes for those times I have to dig my car out of a snowbank. Erg, the thought of that makes me shiver. Can it be summer again?
