It took me a long time to figure out what to get my husband for Christmas. I finally ordered him some items online (the website for a brick-and-mortar store I frequent) that had the items listed 'In Stock.' There were four items I ordered. ONE shipped last night. The rest were now listed as 'Backordered,' even though the product listing still has them 'In Stock.' *sigh* This kinda messes everything up. I did send the company an email to see if they knew when the items would actually be in stock but I'm not holding my breath for the items to make it by Christmas. Maybe I should have ordered him a custom painted HJC Modular helmet or something. He doesn't ride motorcycles but it could be cool, right?
Ah, December
This is the time of year when I am super-busy at work and super-busy at home. There isn't a lot of downtime in December. So I end up spending a decent amount of time daydreaming about buying some real estate highlands nc and just getting away from it all. It would be nice to live somewhere peaceful and quiet. Alas, it won't happen anytime soon. But I can still dream, right?
Wrestling?
This weekend I noticed a sign at the local community center advertising a wrestling match taking place there. It made me wonder what kind of wrestling gear they could fit in the community center. It's not a particularly large place. The largest space is the basketball court, where I teach Zumba classes. Are they really going to put a wrestling ring in there? I mean, it was advertised in the WWE-type wrestling format and not the high school-type. I don't want to actually attend the event but I'm curious about it.
Alma Mater FTW!
One of the local radio stations runs a Christmas Choir contest featuring local schools. There's two categories: K - 8 and 9 - 12. The high school that won this year? My alma mater! As a matter of fact, I was a member of that choir way back when. (It was actually called 'concert choir' back then.) Congrats Neshaminy! Keep up the awesome work!
Charm bracelets
I'm not a huge fan of jewelry. As a matter of fact, I don't even wear my wedding ring most days. Jewelry just seems to always get in my way. I did find some cute charm bracelets though. I particularly like the pandora beads because they still have the variety of a charm bracelet but they look a bit more grown-up. My daughter has a cute silver charm bracelet (though we haven't added any new charms in a long time). Maybe I should get something like this so we can have matching bracelets.
Madness
I am completely addicted to this song. My husband noticed me watching the video and I made an off-hand comment that I don't think I knew any other Muse songs. So he proceeded to play me every Muse song that I should (and inevitably do) know. I just like "Madness" better than the others.
Also, I am amazed at the bass guitar that guy plays. It kinda looks like he strapped an iPad to his bass. I didn't even know something like that existed. Imagine the possibilities! Maybe a digital electric piano at Musician's Friend. (Not like the one in the cheesy iPad Mini commercial that shows piano keys on the screen.) I might need to learn how to play something now...
A new jdrama!
I am finally back on the horse! I stopped watching that other drama for now. It was so boring that I completely forgot the title. Instead, I'm watching Akumu-chan, which has my beloved Gackt in it. I've only watched the first two episodes but I am interested to see where it will go. Yay Jdrama! Yay Gackt!
Summer Camp
Every year, I have to decide what to do with my daughter for the summer. A lot of Camps for Teens are really expensive and we can't quite afford that yet. I'm hoping that we'll be able to afford to send her somewhere nice for a week or two. (Granted, I never went to summer camp. I did do a couple of overnight camping trips with the Girl Scouts but that was it.) I think she gets bored hanging out with my mom all summer. I wish child care stuff was more affordable.
Movie review: Looper
My husband and I don't get a lot of time to go see 'grown-up' movies in the theater. Luckily, there is a $2.00 movie theater nearby that has movies that are just about to come out on DVD. This past weekend, we were able to catch Looper.
It has an interesting plot. Joe (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) is a hitman for the mafia. However, he's not a normal hitman. In 2074, the mafia uses time travel to get rid of their "problems." They send the hit 30 years into the past to be killed by hitmen called Loopers. 'Closing the Loop' is when the mafia sends the future version of the Looper back to the younger version to be killed. When Future Joe (Bruce Willis) is sent back to be killed, he decides that he needs to change the future instead.
When we originally decided to see Looper, I had only heard bad reviews. My husband did find some good reviews on the internet though. Both of us didn't think the movie was all that bad. Yes, there are some terribly big plot holes but the journey was still a fun one. That said, I don't think I would watch it again. If you think about it too hard, you are bound to give yourself a headache.
A slow Saturday
As I said earlier, my birthday was yesterday. I did not receive one of the best harmonicas for sale at Musicians friend. I did get a really cool board game. (Lupin the 3rd Board Game, which I didn't even know existed.) While I love music, I don't know how to actually play any instruments. Well, that's a lie. I can vaguely play the violin but not very well. My daughter is learning how to play the trumpet and I hope she sticks with it. Good ol' Mom will just have to play along with the tamborine. That I can play!
