Jdorama review: Uta no Onii-san

utanooniisan Title: Uta no Onii-san Translation: The Singing Brother Broadcast date: 1/16/09 - 3/13/09 Genre: Comedy Cast: Ohno Satoshi, Chisa, Katase Nana, Maruyama Ryuhei, Kimura Yoshino Plot: After his life gets turned upside down, Yano Kenta (Ohno) finds himself working as a Singing Brother on a children's show. What is good: Everyone acted wonderfully What is bad: The children's show seemed pretty 'one-note.' We never got to see if they do more than just sing children's songs. Letter rating: B Overall: It was a really fun show. Even when you wanted to smack Yano on the head, he was still a lovable character. There's nothing really deep but, if you pay attention, you just might walk away with a life lesson learned.

A bit of an update

I am a terrible webmistress. I actually don't have a single thing to talk about. Currently, I'm watching Uta no Onii-san so a review on that should be coming sometime late this week or early next week. And I need to get my butt playing some games again. Somewhat unfortunately, my daughter's school 'project' has been eating up a lot of my spare time. The entire school has been assigned spend 1000 hours reading books. If they reach the 1000 hour benchmark, the principal will be made into a human sundae. If they go over the 1000 hours, a couple of the other teachers will join in on the mess. So, of course, my daughter has been spending loads of time trying to rack up as many hours as she possibly can. Luckily for me, the project ends on May 15. Maybe then I can get my free time back.

Riverdance

riverdance Last night, we all went to see Riverdance at The Academy of Music in Philadelphia. My daughter takes tap and ballet lessons. She's also really into dance overall. So we thought it would be a good idea for her to see something a little different than what she is used to.

Overall, the show was amazing. It's unbelievable how fast the dancers can move their feet. In addition, all of the musicians were awesome. I enjoyed the fiddler and the percussionist the most. Hopefully we get the chance to take my daughter to see some other forms of dance as well.

Game review: Detective Stories: Hollywood

Considering I'm a big fan of movies and a huge fan of hidden object games, I figured that Detective Stories: Hollywood would be a shoo-in for a good review. Sadly, it is not. The hidden object aspects of the game are pretty good. A lot of them revolve around trying to find and match an object to its outline. It's slightly more difficult than finding items on a list but it makes the game more interesting. Where the game lacks is the mini-games in between the hidden object parts. I am still stuck on a game that I can't solve and I can't pass. More than anything, I find this extremely frustrating. If a developer wants to add these mini-games to make the overall game more interesting, fine, but code in a work-around too. I'm sure I'm not the only one that sucks at those types of puzzles.

Otherwise, it's a pretty nice game. Too bad the mini-games ruined it.

Arashi - Wish

arashi-wish I have been lacking in the music department lately. I apologize. Hopefully, a little boy band music will make you feel better.

Wish is popularly known as the theme song for the first season of the Hana Yori Dango jdorama. Of course, both Arashi and HYD feature Matsumoto Jun. Not only is the song cute on its own but the video for it is also adorable. It features a little puppet man trying to win the heart of a little puppet girl. I think, thanks to the HYD connection, that this was my first introduction into the world of Arashi. Let the cuteness wash over you!
