Entertain the kiddies
Ah, Monday. This weekend wasn't nearly long enough. My daughter had dress rehearsal for her dance classes, which took up our entire Saturday. Next week is the recital, which will also take up an entire Saturday. the teachers at the studio ask the parents to bring something for the kids to do while they aren't dancing. There aren't any televisions in the dancers' waiting area so we're kinda left to our own devices. (I volunteer to help backstage.) I generally bring coloring books and crayons. I think last year I brought those magic pen books where the ink 'magically' shows up when you use the pen. Other than that, I'm out of ideas for inexpensive and clean ways to entertain the kids. We're talking about kids aged 7 to about 10. Ideas gladly accepted!
Favorite Friday
David Carradine died yesterday. Here is a clip of him fighting Brandon Lee in Kung Fu: The Movie. RIP to both wonderful actors.
Dead Like Me
I finished watching Dead Like Me last week. That was a really funny series. The movie was pretty terrible though. Anyway, one of my favorite parts of the series was when Happy Times had the emergency drill and someone had made grilled cheese with the AED defibrillator. I can't imagine that they would have made a particularly tasty sandwich but it was still funny seeing the melted cheese stuck between the paddles. I'm so sad that the series is over (yeah, I know, it's been like five years and I should get over it.) So, I need a new series to watch on DVD. Any suggestions?
My legs are tired and my eyes are broken
My mother and I walked in the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life in Pottstown this weekend. It was a pretty successful event, though now I am absolutely exhausted. My legs are still sore! On a sadder note, my glasses broke on Friday. Last week, I was diagnosed with 'contact lens overwear.' (Yeah, I wore them too much.) The only glasses I had were an already broken pair from about five years ago. So my husband fixed them up for me to make them mostly wearable. Well, on Friday, the right arm snapped off. My new glasses should be arriving tomorrow. Until then, though, I can't really see well enough to finish watching Mop Girl. Forgive my slowness. I'll finish it as soon as I can! I swear!
Favorite Friday
This weekend I will be walking in the American Cancer Society Relay for Life in Pottstown, PA. Today's Favorite Friday is a video I uploaded about last year's event. If you pay close attention, right around the 0:42 mark, you can see me. I'm wearing a white chef's hat, a black apron and sunglasses. (I'm also kinda golf-clapping but let's overlook that, shall we?)
Update
Sadly, I still don't have a lot to talk about. I've been watching Mop Girl with Keiko Kitagawa. Hopefully I'll have that finished by next week. I also have the Relay for Life this weekend. Donate here, if you want to ^_^ I've been debating taking some sort of lessons again. I took tap last year and I've looked into voice or piano lessons. Unfortunately, I don't think I can afford any of them this season. I think I need to marry a rich man so I can take tons of classes and do nothing but dance and sing all day!
Memorial Day
I know it's really late but I hope everyone in the US had a good Memorial Day. For those outside the US that don't know what Memorial Day is, it's a day that we remember our fallen soldiers. It's also considered the 'beginning of summer.' Definitely one of the better federal holidays. So thank you to all of our armed forces. You are not forgotten.

JDorama review: Zettai Kareshi Special
Title: Zettai Kareshi
Also Known As: Absolute Boyfriend
Broadcast date: 3/24/09
Genre: Romantic comedy
Cast: Hayami Mokomichi, Mizushima Hiro, Aibu Saki
Plot: Shortly after Riiko (Aibu) and Soshi (Mizushima) get called back from Paris to open a new store, Riiko finds that Night has been resurrected by a new Kronos Heaven employee. Will Night destroy the couple's engagement?
What is good: It's nice seeing these characters come to life again.
What is bad: The story was completely unnecessary.
Letter rating: B-
Overall: When the series ended, I felt like I needed more closure to the story. This isn't what the audience needed. While it felt like Night's character had more to him, he was used throughout the entire special. It was wonderful seeing the characters on screen and interacting again. However, it's akin to taking that last extra bite of cake. Yeah, it was tasty but now you feel nauseous.
