A few months ago, my mother, my sister, and I were looking at houses. My sister is thinking about buying a house in the nearish future and she wanted to get an idea of things she would like. Since we are also rather silly people, we decided to look at houses way beyond our means. A lot of those houses had mini movie theater rooms in the basement, complete with stadium home theater seating. I would absolutely love to have something like that in my house, but it wouldn't work in our current house. It would be nice if we could get to a position where we could afford something like that. If anyone wants to give me a $500,000 house, I'll gladly accept!
A Little Scary
Every day, I drive down a fairly major road on my way to work. People frequently drive around 60 miles per hour, even though the posted speed limit if 45 on most of the road. On my way home last night, there was a rather major accident. Surprisingly, it was not at the blind intersection. (If you are making a right or left turn off of one of the side roads, you cannot see if anyone is coming at you on the major road. You have to just take a deep breath and hope.) It was merely a person not yielding the right of way while making a left-hand turn. One act of stupidity sent four people to the hospital and had the possibility of seriously injuring two children. Luckily, the children were safe. I got stuck in the traffic build-up that resulted from the accident. (I showed up about 15 - 20 minutes after the actual crash.) Everyone had to turn around and find an alternate route to their destination. I, somehow, managed to get to my daughter's after-school program about one minute before they closed. *whew*
So here is my public service announcement: Drive carefully. I won't say "Obey the speed limit" because you won't. (I know I don't.) But do it cautiously. Keep tabs on what other drivers are doing. If you don't think you have enough time to make a turn before an oncoming car gets there, wait. There is nothing so important that you can't wait another 10 seconds for a car to pass first. And check your insurance quotes. Make sure you are properly covered in case something terrible does happen.
A new hobby?
I can tell that I'm starting to get better, no matter what my sinuses say. How can I tell? I'm getting bored enough to read dumb websites on quick trim reviews and celebrity gossip. Maybe I need to find a new hobby. Something that is mind-numbing enough that I don't have to really think about it, yet entertaining enough that it doesn't bore me. Any suggestions?
Otaku Unite!
This is way old. I premiered this back in 2003, when I was running a small anime festival. It was pretty good back then. Maybe I should dig it out to watch it again to see what I think of it now.
Unclogging my head
While I'm doing slightly better than I was yesterday, I am still fairly sick. With any luck, my sinuses will drain today and I'll be back to normal tomorrow. I think I need some sort of heat treatment. Maybe some steam from a hot bath or a sauna will help loosen the crap in my head. Unfortunately, I don't really have access to either. ARGH. Hm, maybe I'll search out some metal buildings...like a shed or something...and hang out in there. The weather may be warm enough to make it worthwhile....
ACHOO!
My weekend was rather hectic. On Sunday, my daughter and I cleaned her bedroom. Of course, this set off my allergies big time. I can't tell if they have morphed into some sort of head cold or if it's still just terrible allergies. (Though getting sick is kinda one of the best diets for quick weight loss. Not eating a lot does wonders for weight loss!) I have taken some medicine in the hopes to clear my sinuses out. Wish me luck! I'd like to breathe again soon!
I want to be a princess!
My husband and I need to attend more formal parties. He looks really good in a tux, but he hasn't worn one since our wedding about 8 1/2 years ago. We don't really run with a fancy crowd so it's not like we're turning down formal parties. There are just no invitations coming. On the other hand, I suppose running with the fancy crowd means having tons of money to spend on things like tuxedos and ball gowns. Alas, fixing the house comes before fancy things. Maybe when we're older.
Favorite Friday
SO ADORABLE!
Come to me sun!
I am so happy that spring is quickly rushing into place. It's supposed to be about 70 degrees today! See, I'm already cold all the time so the winter just makes things worse for me. Instead of just being chilled, I get downright frozen. I keep trying to get my husband to let me buy an electric blanket but he sees them as fire hazards. Especially since I am unlikely to turn it off. The only down side about the warmth coming so soon? If it's 70 and it's not even spring yet, how hot will the summer be? My husband and my kid complain a lot when the summer is ultra-hot. Will I have to put up with a lot of whining this year?
The stress of skin
My daughter has been sick for the past few days. Besides having to take time off of work to care for her, the stress from worrying about her has taken a toll on my looks. I normally don't do a whole lot of skin care. It's basically just wash and go. I don't wear makeup or use creams or anything. I keep looking at night creams, but don't they just rub off onto your pillow? They won't do your face much good if it's just on the pillowcase. Maybe you're supposed to let it sink into your skin before you get into bed. Girl stuff confuses me sometimes.
