Rings!

My little sister got engaged recently. As a result, I've been looking at various wedding items...including rings. (Yes, I know that I have no say in what rings they get. But I can still look!) I came across a site selling masonic ring. I never realized that these organizations had their own rings. It's interesting. (Though not as interesting as joining an organization called "Odd Fellows." That one is just plain weird.) I wonder how many members own similar rings. Hrm.

Not Philadelphia - Paris!

It is extremely cold here in the Philadelphia region. Like everyone else, I am pushing through the teenaged temperatures. My mind, however, is off on exotic vacations. Even though I know it is also super cold in France, my brain thinks everywhere looks like a movie. So instead of wrapping myself in blankets and thick layers of clothing, I am basking in the Paris sun. Soaking up the heat in the garden at one of the luxury paris vacation rentals, surrounded by gorgeous flowers and drinking mimosas. (I don't really drink but, hey, if I'm dreaming, I might as well go big.) Seriously though, I would like to go to Paris sometime. It is supposed to be absolutely beautiful. Anyone been?

A new look!

Those of you that have visited the website should have noticed a drastic change in our theme. The previous theme was a bit depressing so now it's a cute winter theme. The reason for the change? Girl Scout Cookies! My daughter joined Girl Scouts this year and we'll be selling cookies until March 3. If you live in the Reading/Pottstown, PA area, use the link on our website to order your cookies. Once we receive your order, I'll contact you to set up payment and delivery. Yay cookies!

Games?

Lately, I have been playing a lot of board or card games with my daughter. Most of them fall into the "geeky" category but I'm not sure if I should review them here. My family does play a lot of board games at holiday gatherings and whatnot so I might have quite a few to talk about. Would anyone be interested in reading board game reviews?

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! It's hard to believe that it's 2013. I don't really make resolutions but I'd like to move my fitness business forward this year. Not only would I like to get my own studio, I'd like to get my own sound system as well. I'm tired of relying on other people's systems. They end up not working a lot of the time and that kinda screws me. If I could find a nice portable sound system (while a dbx driverack would be cool, it's not too portable), that would be awesome. Here's to a good 2013!

Games!

My family loves playing board games together. We normally play trivia-type games but we also do a few educa puzzles once in awhile. However, I've recently watched all of the TableTop episodes on Geek & Sundry and they gave given us tons of ideas for new games. We've purchased a bunch of games thanks to Wil Wheaton - Zombie Dice, Get Bit, Dixit, Small World, Munchkin...and there are more on our list that we haven't picked up yet. We're going to make 2013 the Year of the Game!

Busy Busy

This is my busy time of year at work. This is also the time of year that I start daydreaming about quitting this job and doing something I actually like instead. Sometimes I think about filling out a cruise ship job application but then I remember that I'm not particularly fond of water and most cruise ships are chock full o' germs. I'm not sure how much I would like being sick and stuck at sea. (Or even just stuck at sea without the sick part.) I think I'd rather stick to something on dry land. If I could get my Zumba classes to be my full-time job, that would be the awesomest job ever!

So awesome!

Why didn't I find this link before Christmas?! This would have been the best present for a number of my relatives. I'm sure my college-aged cousin would love any of the Mens Cowboy Hats from that website. I know my daughter would adore any of the pink hats. There should be a "ridiculous hats" category. That is where I would find everything for my little sister. I am so sad I didn't find their website last week. That would have made this the best Christmas ever. Well, there is next year!

Batteries!

I hope that everyone had a lovely holiday, no matter what you celebrate. Now is the time to find all your aaa rechargeable batteries here. My aunt somehow managed to find a pink Furby for my daughter and was even nice enough to include batteries with it! Thankfully, that was the only battery-powered item she received. Everything else was books and board games and stuff. She's such a good geek :) What geeky things were in your haul?

Trophies

My daughter bowls in a children's league at one of the local alleys. Since she bowls for both the fall and spring sessions, she gets trophies twice a year. And these aren't some cheap pinewood derby trophies like the boy scouts give out. These are the high quality things. (Well, for the most part. There is a cheapo one that is given out for the adult/child leagues.) Each person usually gets two trophies - one for their individual accomplishment and one for the team placement. It is pretty cool, even though we don't really have anywhere to display trophies. I guess we'll have to find somewhere to fit a trophy case in here!
