When I do these daily movie reviews, there is always a point where I get movie fatigue and I don’t want to watch any more bad movies. We are starting to get to that point now. But I will try my best to make it through the whole month. Maybe Christmas movies will save my sanity this year. For now…The One Next Door.
Malik (Don Snipes) has moved in next door to Robert (Dez Cortez) and Tabitha (Robyn Rose). It isn’t long before Robert starts getting jealous of Malik always helping Tabitha with household chores. His violence against Malik now puts his marriage to Tabitha at risk.
This movie is all about jealousy. The runtime is about 100 minutes and we don’t get a plot twist until the hour mark. All of the scenes up to that point is Malik talks to Tabitha or helps Tabitha with something and Robert yells at everyone about how inappropriate it is. At this point, Tabitha has done nothing to deserve this treatment. It is around that 60 minute mark that we really see some flirting going on. (For the record, no, I don’t consider fixing a faucet as flirting.) But, even then, it’s nothing serious. And, of course, Robert flies off the handle. When that plot twist does pop up, Robert doesn’t amend his ways. He just gets mad in a different way. And then there is that ending scene that I won’t spoil… Robert really is irredeemable.
